CPSC’s Children’s Products Recalls for July

By The Law Office of WT Johnson on July 29, 2013

You want your children to be safe, but many of the toys you buy your children can harm them due to manufacturing defects. We want to help you stay up-to-date on product recalls to help you protect your children. Here are some of the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s children’s product recalls from July:

Kids II Recalls Baby Einstein Activity Jumpers Due to Impact Hazard

The “sun” toy attachment on the Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Jumper can rebound with force and injure your infant. The firm has received 100 reports of incidents including 61 injuries, such as bruises, lacerations to the face, a 7-month-old boy who sustained a skull fracture and a chipped tooth to an adult.

This product recall includes Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Jumpers with model number 90564, which can be found on a tag on the underside of the seat. These activity centers have a support seat covered in blue fabric attached to a large white metal frame and include brightly colored toys surrounding the seat.

The recalled product was sold at Target, Toys R Us and other retails stores and online at Amazon.com between May 2010 and May 2013 for about $90. If you own this toy, you should immediately stop using it, and contact Kids II for a replacement toy attachment.

Thermobaby Bath Seats Recalled Due to Drowning Hazard

These recalled bath seats don’t meet federal safety standards. They can tip over, posing a risk of drowning to babies, but no injuries have been reported yet.

This product recall includes Aquababy Bath Ring seats in pink or blue designed for children five to ten months old. The seat is made of white plastic with blue, pink or green trimming and has four suction cups on the bottom. The bath seats were sold on Amazon.com from June 2012 through January 2013 for about $35.

If you own this recalled bath seat, you should immediately stop using it and contact the firm for instruction on returning the bath seat and receiving your $35 refund.

Girls Boots Recalled By Renaissance Imports Due to Laceration Hazard

An exposed staple in the sole of these boots presents a laceration hazard to the consumer, and Renaissance Imports has received one report of a consumer who was punctured by an exposed staple.

This product recall involves Autumn Run brand girls Gemma II style boots with SKU number 0529-02613-1050, which can be found on a tag located inside the shoe, on the inside of the collar. These recalled boots were sold at Academy Sports + Outdoors stores and online between July 2012 and October 2012 for about $23.

If your child owns these boots, you should inspect them for exposed staples. The instructions for inspecting the boots can be found  at www.renimp.com. If your boots are stamped “INSPECTED” on the reverse side of the inside label, they are not included in this recall. You can return the recalled boots to any Academy Sports + Outdoors store for a full refund.
